Tomorrow, Torfaen Council’s Cabinet committee will be asked to approve a 10-year contract to deliver leisure services in Torfaen to Halo Leisure Services.
In July 2024 the Council approved a procurement exercise to identify a new service provider for leisure services in Torfaen.
Following an open tender process in November, Halo Leisure Services were successful.
Dave Leech, Torfaen’s Strategic Director responsible Adults and Communities, said: “Sport and leisure services play a crucial role in delivering the objectives of our County Plan and wider Community Wellbeing Strategy.
“If approved by councillors, discussions will take place between Torfaen Leisure Trust and Halo Leisure Services to ensure the transfer of staff and the transition from one provider to another is as smooth as possible. I want to thank the Board and Team at the trust for the high degree of professionalism they have shown in maintaining services during the tender period.
“Halo Leisure Services are a registered charity and run over 25 sport and leisure centres throughout Bridgend, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, Merthyr, Shropshire, Swindon and Stratford-upon-Avon on behalf of local authorities and other partners.”
“As a registered charity and social enterprise, Halo plough profits back into facilities and services so more people can be to be more active more often.”
The total value of the contract over the 10-year period is £12,143,549.
